UNIVERSITY THEATER is the co-curricular production unit
of the Department of Theater and Dance, and as such it is committed to
comprehensive training programs for careers in the professional or
educational theater.
We stage five mainstage productions
each year, including a musical and an opera, plus the YSU Dance
Ensemble and various student-directed one-acts. Participation is
open to all, with casting priority given to students in theater
studies. BlackBoxProductions is
University Theater's"Second
Stage" where smaller and possibly less traditional
dramatic fare is produced under student direction. Typically,
BlackBox presents two
fully-staged productions each season.
| There is
no admission charge for YSU students who present their student
I.D. cards for reservations. The general public admission
price per show is $10.00 for both plays and musicals. YSU
faculty and staff pay $5.00 for admission to each event.
( Call the box office to inquire about special rates for
non-university students, senior citizens, penguin club members
and groups. Ticket sales begin two weeks prior to the
opening of every production.) Season
Subscribers have admission to all six University Theater
productions for the price of $40.00.
For reservations, please call the university theater box office
at 330-941-3105.
