Theater Studies at Youngstown
State University consist of an appropriate blend of academic and
practical coursework leading to a Bachelor's degree in this most
human of all the arts. As a theater student, you will explore the
many facets of human nature within the context of dramatic
conflict, and you will learn how best to present the results of
those explorations in various public performance settings.
The undergraduate focus and the
reasonable size of our department assures that theater majors will
have close personal attention from the faculty, and that they will
be able to audition successfully for roles in the production
season from the very beginning of their matriculation.
With a varied selection of dramatic
and musical works, and an academic curriculum which provides the
theoretical and practical skills necessary to produce them, the
comprehensive program at Youngstown State University is structured
to train theater practitioners who are able to function confidently
on both sides of the footlights.
Youngstown State University is an
accredited institutional member of the National Association of
Schools of Theater (NAST).
