Originally from eastern Iowa, Peter HappelChristian received a BFA in photography from the University of Iowa in 1999 and journeyed to the Pacific Northwest to receive an MFA in photography from the University of Oregon in 2003. A diverse photographer and nationally exhibiting artist, Peter has taught at the University of Oregon, Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ, the Tucson Museum of Art School and in the Photography Program of the University of Arizona. His work is in the permanent collection of the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson and he is an active member of the Society for Photographic Education. Peter likens his creative habits to that of an early cartographer - looking, measuring, collecting, calculating and displaying the intersections of quotidian life and the natural world. His interests are realized as photographs, artist books, installations and works on paper.
