Biography of Assistant Professor Kurt Roscoe
Kurt Roscoe has been a practicing graphic designer and art director since 1990. He has a diverse background in design, having worked for several design firms and advertising agencies in northeastern Ohio. His work for local, national and international clients has earned awards in design and typography including several ADDY awards. Kurt has designed several typefaces, including KRONE and Hannah. KRONE is licensed internationally by Fonthaus, Monotype, ITC and Fonts.com He is a graduate of Youngstown State University with a B.FA. in graphic design. Kurt also holds a M.F.A. in Visual Communication Design from Kent State University. He is a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and is a past president of the Cleveland Chapter. He has also been a member of the Type Directors Club (TDC) since 1992. Before coming to Youngstown State University, he had taught at several other Ohio universities and colleges, including Lakeland Community College, Cuyahoga Community College, and the University of Akron. His teaching philosophy concentrates on the understanding of design and typography fundamentals in route to practical implementation. Additionally, an emphasis is placed on creative development and typographic experimentation. |
