Biography
of Professor Joe Babisch
I graduated
from the State University of N.Y. at Buffalo, S.U.N.Y., with a B.S. in Art
Education. I received my M.A. from Kent State University and my M.S. from Westminster
College.
I have worked on the doctoral level at N.Y.U. and at Albany State.
My first teaching
assignment was in Niles, Ohio where I worked with students grades K-9 for five
years after which I became a full time faculty member at
Y.S.U. and have remained at that level; now as full professor.
Another university colleague and I hosted a weekly television show, aired on
WFMJ, for a three-year period. I taught grades 1-3-5, the show was titled “All
About Art”.
I have supervised
student teachers, taught undergraduate and graduate classes, conducted workshops,
judged shows and exhibited in local events. My involvement in original, fully
developed puppet shows has been presented in
our local schools, on the campus of Y.S.U. and at the national art education
convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ihave team taught with numerous faculty
members on campus and as a part of pilot
programs in our schools. Development of curriculum in art at the state, local
and university levels has
been a part of my background.
